We have had a couple of meetings with stakeholders and DOT. I think this will be settled soon and history will be preserved with a functioning Excursion Train. We are going to take on the burden of building out the Trail around the park for 3 miles, and if the submitted grant is awarded, the burden may be less.
El Dorado Western will be running the Trains and they have an uphill battle, because they are being asked to fund this project, with no county money. We support them in there effort and hope that they can be successful. We have offered to help with volunteer labor and fund raising.
Our focus is the connection of the El Dorado Trail to Folsom and Lake Tahoe. The trail will be a Trail of National Significance and we look forward to building out the connection to Folsom. There will be many attractions developed on the trail and the El Dorado Train Park may be one of the first. There might be a static Train display at the Shingle Springs Station and the connection to Folsom will highlight a Trolley system in Folsom and the Static Train Display in Old Town.
